Bigg Boss 16: A Celebration of Comedy, Drama, and Thrill

August on Netflix got off to a restful sleep—the wonderful sort of sleep! The Sandman, an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed comic novels, is Netflix’s most recent fantasy sensation. However, it’s not the only new Netflix program this month. One of the most eagerly awaited television programs of August premieres this Friday: the third season of Mindy Kaling’s teen rom-com Never Have I Ever, which is already receiving positive reviews.

The rest of the month’s Netflix originals aren’t quite as thrilling, so you might want to curl up with some licensed programming like the first three Spider-Man films and the most current season of Riverdale since they are the greatest hits. Below the top picks is a list of everything that is departing and joining Netflix.

A preview of the upcoming Netflix Original films and television shows for August 2023

Welcome to a very early preview of the Netflix Original movies and TV shows that will air in August 2023. It will be a busy month, so let’s look at what’s slated to happen right away.

Kevin Heart’s Lift

You’ll notice that the trailer for Kevin Hart’s next film Lift, which was supposed to debut on August 25th, is no longer visible below. The movie was postponed till January 2024, which is why.

This preview will be continuously updated through August 2023 before being phased out in favor of a broader preview that includes all the new releases for the entire month of August.

Coming in August 2023: English-language Netflix Original Series

Heartstopper (Season 2)

Heartstopper, a popular teen drama, will return for a second season, with creator Alice Oseman serving as showrunner once more.

What to anticipate from the upcoming second season is as follows:

“Tara and Darcy encounter unexpected difficulties, Nick and Charlie negotiate their new relationship, and Tao and Elle determine whether they can ever be more than simply friends. As they go into the next stages of life, love, and friendship, the crew has a lot to juggle with exams approaching, a school trip to Paris, and a prom to arrange.

The third season of the show has already been ordered, and it will start filming later this year.

Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99 (August 3)

The focus of this documentary series is the he-said-she-said nonsense. It looks at the disaster of Woodstock ’99, the unsavory music event that included Limp Bizkit and was marked by violence. The Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage HBO documentary from the previous year beat Trainwreck to the punch, but with three parts, this one delves even further into how out of control it became.

The Sandman (August 5)

When I say this blockbuster fantasy series is long-awaited, I mean it. An adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s beloved comic series has been in development on and off since 1996. And it’s honestly a good thing that it didn’t get made into a movie back then because TV is a much better format for a story this sprawling. It tells the story of Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), who breaks free from a century of human captivity and sets out to restore his place as the ruler of the dream world.

It’s a fantasy-superhero epic starring Gwendoline Christie from Game of Thrones as Lucifer Morningstar, who is actually the same character as Tom Ellis’ Lucifer Morningstar from Lucifer (the series share source material) but is significantly different.

Mech Cadets (Season 1)

Coming to Netflix: August 10th

Aaron Lam is the director of this brand-new animated series from BOOM! Studios and Polygon Pictures.

Stanford Yu, a young teenager, has his sights set on becoming a pilot for one of the many Robo Mechs that have come to our planet’s rescue in the program, which is set 50 years in the future and features an extraterrestrial civilization attacking Earth.

Voice actors for the show include Brandon Soo Hoo, Aparna Brielle, Victoria Grace, Josh Sundquist, Anairis Quinones, Daniel Dae Kim, James Yaegashi, Ming-Na Wen, Scott Whyte, and Robbie Daymond.

Painkiller (Limited Series)

Coming to Netflix: August 10th

A new limited series exploring the terrible repercussions of the opioid crisis in the United States of America has been produced by the team behind Patriots Day and Narcos.

UzoAduba, Matthew Broderick, Taylor Kitsch, Dina Shihabi, West Duchovny, and John Rothman are the stars of the new show.

Heart of Stone (2023)

Coming to Netflix: August 11th

The lead actress in this brand-new action film, directed by Tom Harper, is Gal Gadot, and it’s expected to be one of Netflix’s biggest summer blockbusters.

What to anticipate from the film is as follows:

The only woman preventing the loss of her powerful, international peacekeeping organization’s most prized and hazardous asset is intelligence operative Rachel Stone.

Never Have I Ever Season 3 (August 12)

Never Have I Ever Season 2 essentially gave me everything I wanted, including a big victory for Team Paxton (Darren Barnet), but I realize that my joy will likely be fleeting in the upcoming third (and penultimate) season after Eleanor (Ramona Young) revealed to Ben (Jaren Lewison) that Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) was in love with him in the finale. The show’s blend of amusing teen rom-com, heartfelt reflections on the lasting pervasiveness of bereavement, and John McEnroe’s omniscient narration continue to amaze me.

The Monkey King (2023)

Coming to Netflix: August 18th

The new family-friendly animated feature film, produced by Pearl Studio, is based on a classic Chinese story. It depicts Monkey fighting demons, dragons, and gods with his magical fighting stick.

The voice cast for the feature film features Jimmy O. Yang, Bowen Yang, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, and Jo Koy as its leading actors.

The Next 365 Days (August 19)

This selection of the “best” new content on Netflix includes the third and final episode of its campy Polish sexual thriller trilogy because it’s the greatest option to view if you’re unable to access a XXX website. The sex scenes in these bad movies are certainly graphic! The fact that the second and third films were produced concurrently surprised me because 365 Days: This Day Only was released in April. I am aware that you are eager to learn how the narrative turns out, but you need not worry—your secret is secure with me.

Mo (August 24)

Comedian Mo Amer stars in his own self-titled, semi-autobiographical dramedy series about a Palestinian immigrant living in Texas with his family. You may recognize him from his supporting role in the Hulu series Ramyor and his Netflix stand-up specials. Amer is a humorous person, and this show will make him more well-known. The sitcom was co-created by Ramy Youssef, who also serves as executive producer. It resembles a Ramy spin-off almost exactly.

Who is Erin Carter? (Season 1)

Coming to Netflix: August 24th

This new crime series, which was formerly known as Palomino, centers on a British teacher who gets involved in a robbery at a supermarket while living in Spain.

Evin Ahmad, Sean Teale, Douglas Henshall, Susannah Fielding, and Charlotte Vega are the series’ main actors.

You Are SO Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah! (2023)

Coming to Netflix: August 25th

This adaptation of the Fiona Rosenbloom novel is one of three significant films starring Adam Sandler that will be released in 2023.

Here’s what to anticipate:

“Best friends Stacy and Lydia have always imagined having unforgettable bat mitzvahs. But when a popular boy and middle school drama endanger their friendship and their rite of passage, things start to go comically bad.

The main cast members of the new comedy include Idina Menzel, Jackie Sandler, Adam Sandler, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, and Luis Guzmán.

One Piece (Season 1)

Coming to Netflix: August 31st

Thanks to Netflix, Matt Owens, and Steven Madea, the well-liked manga and anime series One Piece will transition to live-action.

The series chronicles the exploits of the absconding Straw Hat Pirates as they journey through perilous seas, countries, and beyond.

Inaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero Gibson, and Taz Skylar will all appear in the new series.

One Piece and Avatar: The Last Airbender are two of Netflix’s most eagerly awaited 2023 Original series; however, the release date for One Piece has not yet been confirmed by the streaming service.

Untold is back with a new package of titles exploring sporting stories, spread over the course of four documentaries and docuseries, including:

  •  Jake Paul the Problem Child – August 1st
  •  Johnny Football – August 8th
