Dean E. Bordner, who lived in Millersburg, died at the Northern Dauphin Nursing and Rehab Center on Thursday, September 28, 2023. He was 90 years old.
Born on April 29, 1933, in Carsonville, he was the son of the late Samuel Bordner and Rose Yerges Bordner.
Dean worked as a mechanic, first at the old Muskin Shoe Factory in Millersburg and then at Seal Glove until he retired.
He went to the Millersburg, Ohio, Trinity United Church of Christ. Dean was also a member of the Susquehanna Lodge in Millersburg for 50 years.
Dean was good at building things out of wood and could make almost anything. When he was younger, he liked to go hunting and bowl, and he was a member of several neighborhood bowling leagues. His family gave him the most happiness and pride.
His parents and four brothers, Ernest, Clifford, Samuel, and Lester Bordner, all died before him. His only sister, Ida Ruddy, also died before him.
Pauline Briggs Bordner, his wife of 70 years, his daughter Diane Hoy and her husband Gregory Hoy of Millersburg, his granddaughter Kallie Kline of Harrisburg, his great-grandson Dr. Austin Dressler and his wife Nina Dressler of Langhorn, and many cousins and nephews are among the people who will miss him.
On Friday, October 6, 2023, a memorial service will be place at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Millersburg. Rev. Mark Hoffman will lead the service. From 10 to 11 a.m., people can come see the body.
